Nurzhuman Yhtymbaev

Nurzhuman Ikhtymbayev – the Soviet Kazakh film actor, National Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the USSR State Prize. He was born on May 14, 1941. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he starred in Russian, Kazakhstani, and the USA films. Nurzhuman Ikhtymbaev graduated from the Kazakh State Educational Institute and his film career began unexpectedly – the crew of Restless Morning film came to the native village of the future artist. After the invitation to film shooting and a successful debut, Ikhtymbaev was accepted as a full-time actor to Kazakhfilm studio. Ikhtymbaev’s works are distinguished by a variety of characters – from concise, harsh, and even cruel (Wolf Pup Among People) to heartfelt, but nonetheless decisive (The Gift to Stalin). His small but important role of Zohar in both Patrols reveals the hidden Eastern wisdom and simplicity of character. Among recent works is joint shooting with French actor Gerard Depardieu in the Late Love film. In addition to film shooting, Ikhtymbaev takes part in dubbing the animation films (Kadyr’s Happiness, 2000).
